DC Diplomats in Norway!

A few weeks ago, we had a visitor, Silje from Norway.  We were very glad to have her join us during her trip to the United States.

She was very nice to write an article about us for her club’s website, OTRA IL.

Feel free to read her article here: http://www.otrail.no/index.php?m=nyhet&m_action=les_mer&id=2053&sid=6

Thank you Silje!

Carolina Tar Heel Invitational Tournament

The University of North Carolina is hosting their annual fall
tournaments soon.  The tournament is held on UNC’s campus in Chapel
Hill, NC.  This tournament is a major tournament, with every major
team east of the Mississippi likely to participate.  Both sets of
dates below are weekends.

Women’s Tournament - October 31st-November 1st
Entrance Fee - $300/team

Men’s Tournament - October 17th-18th

I will pass on more information as I receive it; however, I would like
to have a tally now.  If you haven’t yet emailed me, please respond to this message if you’re interested in participating in the Tar Heel Invitational or if you have any questions regarding the format.

Flanders 2009

This year’s Sportsfest Handball Tourney in Flanders, New Jersey, was held at the Swim and Sport Club on the first weekend of August. As avid players, the DC Diplomats attended with a Men’s team as well as two Women’s players. Amongst these were goalie Eric, players Bryan, Jesus, Andreas and Bert, Christophe his brother Clement attending as guest and verbal/moral support, and Vikas with his wife Raj. Andreas and Bert braved camping on site, whereas the rest of the team was comfortably situated in area hotels.
The two lady Diplomats, Mirela and Briana, joined with Houston’s squad to earn a second place finish.
Unfortunately due to inclement weather the guys could not complete their run for the top, but for us they are the winners regardless!

As the weekend came to an end on Sunday due to rainfall the Diplomats grouped around and discussed important items for the future of our teams, which can be read in future publications at dchandball.com.
Overall the weekend was filled with lots of laughter, even more handball, and people coming together and enjoying the weather and activities.
To say the least, Flanders was a good experience that fused us closer together and helped us prepare for future events.
